Civil Field Technician   Location:  Macomb, MI   Primary Responsibilities FTCH is seeking a full time Civil Field Technician/Inspector to work in our Macomb, Michigan office. The primary duties of this position include field observation and documentation of construction contractors' activities for conformance with contract requirements. Applicant must be willing to travel and work in an outdoor environment. This is a great opportunity to get experience on a variety of projects and develop a career in field inspection.   Essential Functions

  • Prepare daily reports detailing the status of the work, including confirmation of work completed available resources and jobsite conditions.
  • Assists in documenting that construction adhere to the design requirements.
  • Assists with any Request for Information.
  • Oversee soil erosion and sedimentation control devices.
  • Works closely with experienced inspectors and engineers to verify and document proper execution of project designs.
  • Work closely with municipal government staff.

  Minimum Physical Requirements Ability to stand and sit as needed on project sites. Ability to drive a motor vehicle to reach work sites; ability to maneuver project sites with uneven terrain. Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.   Desired Education Associates degree or equivalent experience   Desired Degree Civil Engineering Technology/Construction/Concrete   Desired Job Experience

  • AS degree in civil engineering technology or construction preferred.
  • Road and bridge construction experience preferred.
  • Experience with or knowledge of MDOT documentation requirements and Field Manager/Fieldbook is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with municipalities.
  • Previous experience involving field inspection is preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record and be available for occasional travel, long hours, and weekends.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.FTCH is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
