A Day in the Life

As an Operations Technician Sr., you are the keystone of our pipeline and truck terminal facilities, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Your primary responsibilities include overseeing daily field operations and monitoring key metrics via the operational dashboard. You are directly involved in crucial activities such as sampling and ensuring the smooth functioning of both pipeline and truck terminal operations.

When issues arise, you serve as the main troubleshooter, identifying operational problems and implementing quick solutions. You are also responsible for the planning, coordination, and communication of scheduled outages, collaborating with other departments to minimize service disruptions.

Another key part of your role is operational documentation. You create and maintain the facility's Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and write Job Plans, which are essential for consistent operations and safety compliance.

Your role demands strong multitasking skills and the ability to make rapid, effective decisions. The overall goal is to maintain an efficient and operational energy infrastructure.

  • Performs a variety of tasks to safely maintain facility equipment and support pipeline operations, including technical standards and governmental requirements
  • Carries out moderate to highly sophisticated technical assignments as prescribed by leader, analyzing data to resolve issues
  • Reads and interprets drawings; drafts operations and maintenance procedures
  • Follows all of our policies and applies appropriate procedures
  • Coordinates protection of community, personnel, environment and assets
  • Oversees general knowledge of site/location/equipment specific permits and compliance
  • Completes assigned reports, logs and maintains accurate records
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED; a minimum six (6) years of demonstrated ability as an Operations Technician for similar equipment or facility
  • Preferred: Associates or 2-year technical degree; a minimum six (6) years of multifaceted operations technician experience within a natural gas processing or compression facility
Physical and Environment Work Requirements:

Must be willing to:
  • Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
  • Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
  • Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Use hand tools
Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:
  • Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as the need arises
  • May be required to work overtime, 10-12 hour shifts and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays
Other Requirements:
  • Must possess valid State Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills and proficient/advanced knowledge of Process Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers
