Laboratory Technician - Night Shift

We specialize in multiple areas of the value chain:
- Field employees work to calibrate equipment, program and automate systems, and perform instrumentation and equipment work on client sites.
- Lab employees take samples that have been collected in the field and run a multitude of tests for environmental factors and quality of the product. We also have a blending lab that works to create the chemicals that other companies use to calibrate their analytical equipment.
- The Production Analytics team audits existing field structures and design, balances our client’s entire systems, and allocates royalties to maximize profits.
SPL is expanding our footprint internationally in the production, midstream, finished products, and environmental markets. We are also focused on developing industry-leading automation and data analytics tools that will help our customers ensure the integrity of their data.
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician I must be team oriented, proactive, and goal driven. This position will perform laboratory analyses as specified by method protocol and perform duties under the general supervision of the laboratory manager/supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED;
- Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or other science is preferred;
- 0-3 years’ experience;
- Must be proficient in MS Office;
- Excellent communication and computer skills;
- Must be a team player;
- Willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task;
- Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize assignments.
Responsibilities:
- May prepare data and reports for review by senior personnel;
- Keeping neat and accurate records;
- Keeping work area clean and free of safety hazards;
- Attain a working knowledge of chemistry and industry terminology;
- Must maintain strict compliance with SPL/Client Safety, QC and Ethics Policies;
- Perform routine maintenance for all SPL equipment used including PC, scanners, instrumentation, parts, fittings, and sample cylinders;
- Must be able to operate PC and input data information into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System);
- Must be able to communicate effectively – both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and perform efficiently under time constraints;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and the Internet;
- Perform sample and QC analyses as specified by the test method, and ensure that all relevant and/or required information is properly documented and recorded;
- Perform review/interpretation of results to verify that data is accurate and reasonable;
- Perform analytical calculations for reporting data into LIMS;
- Compare current data with historical data in LIMS to spot problem samples and notify the client as necessary;
- Perform instrumentation calibrations and/or basic troubleshooting as needed;
- Must learn Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Methods, Test Procedures as required for daily operation;
- Must be willing to cross train as required;
- Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
This position will work Monday – Friday, 3 pm to 12 am CST in our Midland, TX office.
