Job Description for Research Administrator

NY Creates is seeking applicants for a Research Administrator. This position is responsible for assisting with pre-award activities for The Research Foundation for SUNY, at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Proposal Development: Seek funding opportunities for individual proposals and distribute funding information; provide guidance and checklists to investigators related to funding opportunities; prepare budgets and provide support in developing non-technical required components of an application- including subcontractor detail; working with investigators on review of final proposal, facilitate upload, route through the necessary systems and obtain final approval; and maintaining the official pre-award proposal record of proposal;

Account Administration: Review requests for account establishment & maintenance and transact in the ORACLE software business system to: establish new awards, and conduct award maintenance transactions-such as re-budgets, date extensions; distribute email notifications of transactions, maintain electronic files, and logs; run weekly and monthly account maintenance/monitoring reports as necessary; perform account closeout process;

Other Pre-award Support: Utilize ORACLE software and RF Reports Center to prepare financial and research statistic reporting; maintain familiarity with all relevant Sponsored Programs policies, procedures, and regulations; maintain proficiency in the most current version of Federal, Research Foundation, and campus regulations pertaining to the administration of grants and contracts; contribute to special projects related to assisting with the development of SUNY PI sponsored programs administrative policies and procedures, and the outreach coordination, content development and training of constituent groups regarding these policies and procedures; Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements for Research Administrator

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of business, management, marketing, economics or computer science, engineering, or a related field

OR

  • Equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Abilities to interface with customers and internal partners at various levels within an organization; work independently; prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment; and have experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, or equivalent software.

 

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background investigation; this position may be subject to annual background investigations.

Salary: $56,000-$62,000

*Posted rates are dependent upon experience and education
