Job Openings at the Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy Observatory Technician

MIRA seeks a part-time to full-time Maintenance Technician with good electronic and electrical skills. Other, general maintenance is also required. Experience in software, networking, generators, and/or machining a plus but not required. Most work at the Astronomy Center and shops in Marina but trips to the Oliver Observing Station are also required. Flexible schedule. Salary dependent on qualifications.

Research Astronomer - MIRA seeks an early-career astrophysicist with at least one year of experience with high-precision stellar polarimetry for its polarimetry program. A Ph.D. in astronomy, astrophysics, or physics is required, with both observing experience and the ability to interpret polarimetric results. Educational engagement with the general public and mentoring high school interns is also required. Location is Marina, with travel to the research observatory in Carmel Valley.
