Public Works Department-Engineering Division - Engineering Intern

The City of Cloquet, MN is currently accepting applications for two Student Engineering Interns in the Public Works Department-Engineering Division. This is a temporary full- time (40 hour) summer position (May - August).

Under the direction of the Assistant City Engineer, this person(s) will participate in the day-to-day operations of the Public Works Department-Engineering Division, by providing technical assistance with the planning, design and construction of various street and utility improvements, as well as operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
• Actively enrolled in a Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology Program
• Minimum of 1 year course work in engineering discipline completed
• Must have a strong math and computer background
• Basic understanding of/or interest in the civil engineering and surveying practices
• Basic knowledge of CAD
• Knowledge of GIS systems a plus
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written or oral instructions
• Be able to follow specific technical directions
• Ability to work independently
• Be willing to accept additional responsibilities when ready

COMPENSATION
This is a temporary full-time summer, hourly position. The pay scale is $16.00 to $18.00 per hour based on qualifications and education.
